If you try to pull off a scam, do not trust your six year old to back you up. He is likely to let slip the truth. See Colorado sheriff says parents concocted tale of boy’s flight in balloon, charges expected.

I don’t know. I am still not convinced that it was a complete hoax. It may have been a hoax gone wrong. I think the prosecution would have a hard time proving it beyond the shadow of a doubt to a jury. The basis for my reasoning comes from my experience as the parent of two very active children (now grown), and from years of working with young children with adhd, autism and other behavioral disorders. The sheriff, on the other hand, is already completely convinced the other way. Either way, that family is in for a very difficult time.
Innocent until proven guilty, but if the media reports are even half true, I wouldn’t want to be the defense lawyer–or I’d at least be pushing for a plea bargain soon.
Praise God for little ones innocent as doves…
Just ask any teacher at the pre-K and early elementary levels: if you want something broadcast to the world, tell your young child. A colleague and Kindergarten teacher once told me that she knows more about the love lives of her students’ parents than she cared to know. Doesn’t Ma Ingalls have a saying about little ears and big mouths?
Since a temporary shutdown of Denver International Airport was required, I wonder how the Denver Airport conspiracy theorists will run with this story. I bet they end up saying that Heene was trying to raise public awareness of flying saucer abductions, and law enforcement (part of the joint alien-government conspiracy) are persecuting him in order to hide the truth. (You can do a search on YouTube for “Denver Airport” if you want to watch some videos about the alleged conspiracy.)
Good Morning America had a clip of the Heena’s attorney stating that if the Sheriff went to the home to arrest the parents in front of the children, the Sheriff would be committing child abuse.
What?!?!?!?!
The child abuse that was perpetrated was soley by the parents who expected children to keep their secret. Then the kid blows the whole thing. No wonder he was sick on camera the next day. He’s being asked questions and he doesn’t know if he should answer honestly or the way his parents want him to.
The sheriff should do his job exactly the way he is supposed to.
The victims in all of this are the children, and they are the victims of their parents, not anyone else.
