Something else I learned at the CIRCE conference: In the heyday of Soviet Communism, the penalty for possessing a Bible was 3 years in prison. Think of that the next time you dare to read that dangerous book.

Dear Dr. Veith,

I think of that kind of thing often. How comfortable we have become in assuming our present possession of the scriptures but somehow believing we will always have them.

Commit the Word written to memory and thank God for the Bible in our language everyday.

And don’t forget to support the ongoing work of Bible translation through prayer and financial giving.

Thanks.

Craig

Yes, memory work among our children (and ourselves) is extremely important and the very best way to “inwardly digest” the Word of God.

If these laws were in place today with all the Bibles next door at church and here in my library in the parsonage, they could put me away for a long long time.

Glory to God for all those who did not fall under such crosses and may the Christ keep us steadfast in His Word”.

…and I’ve met a guy who made dozens of trips into the USSR with every nook and cranny of his car stuff with ‘em. Praise God for people willing to risk this….

Dr. Veith

Are you aware that there are libraries across the U.S. which are getting rid of all offensive books and there is a warehouse full of these books in Wisconsin? By offensive I mean those that have anything to do with Christianity, any that speak negatively about gays etc. Scary, isn’t it? My proof is I know a homeschool mom who buys books from the warehouse.
