The Packers bite the dust

I invited the Patrick Henry College students from Wisconsin over to our place for Johnsonville brats and to watch the Packers play the Giants for a slot in the Super Bowl. We had to console each other after a suspenseful, nerve-wracking game. But, as I have observed, when someone loses the Super Bowl, it’s almost better not to be in the thing, such is the disappointment, and I don’t think anyone can defeat the Patriots. I could be wrong.

We had to console our crying four-year-old son after the Packers lost. Ever since we got him a #4 jersey, he has assumed the identity of Brett Favre on game days and most other days. After he stopped crying, he declared, “In my game, Green Bay Packers won.” The dream lives on, if only in a child’s imagination.

The only consolation for me is that Favre will probably come back next year for another shot at it.

My husband seems to have the same philosophy - It’s better to lose the play offs than to lose the Super Bowl.

I don’t get it. I think it’s an honor just to get to the Super Bowl. Winning’s just icing (very rich, yummy icing) on the cake.

He also thinks that nobody will beat the Patriots, but why wouldn’t you want to try? (Not that I think the Packers didn’t try yesterday.)

I almost cried myself. I just keep thinking of all the missed opportunities in that game. It must have been a pretty good game to watch if you were not pulling for either team but my stomach was in knots all night.

Not for me! I’m psyched my boys are going to the superbowl. and I’m not getting my hopes up that they’ll win, but they did give the pats a run for their money a few weeks ago…For awhile there, I didn’t think they’d even make the playoffs and now they’re the new NFC Champs.

Hats off to you NYgiantsfan. I will be pulling for your New York Football Giants in the big game. I really can’t stand the Patriots.

Since in the regular season the Giants came the closest to defeating the Pats, this is probably the best matchup for the SuperBowl. Of course the Giants have a shot at winning. I have been a Giants fan since Y. A. Tittle days.

It was such a sad night. Hopefully with a year of experience under their belt, these young Packers will only get better and play their way into the big game next year.
