In a case we have blogged about in the past, a Canadian human rights tribunal has acquitted columnist Mark Steyn of the charge of “hate speech” for criticizing Islam. See Mark Steyn acquitted in Canadian sharia case.

That’s great news! Hope that he will write a book on it!
Hopefully the Canadian “Human rights tribunal” will be eliminated, too. Steyn is said to be the first person EVER acquitted by this group, which ignores ALL of the protections historically afforded by Anglo-American law. The only reason Steyn got off is because he had access to the press.
I know that Steyn has spent some time down in the USA
via talk show interviews, etc., but is there anyone that comes to mind in our country that has the intellectual
acumen and wit as Steyn? I am sure there is someone besides Bill Maher!
Is it possible that what has restrained Canada and even Europe is that the US exists as a haven for liberty? Will not those countries fall under that leftist/immoralist regime very quickly if America falls in three weeks?
Just my opinion, but I’m coming to believe more and more that where the gospel is by and large rejected by a population, wherever that may be—even in good ‘ol
USA, nothing but “leftist/immoralist regime[s]“, et al
will replace the governments which allowed the gospel to be proclaimed. It’s like Luther said.
It also seems to me that Islam mainly prospers where it takes over Christian lands. It is an antichrist parasite.

Ezra Levant was acquitted in August, but for much the same reason as Steyn: he was too high profile a target, and he certainly made his fight with the commission a public event.
But they are after him again. And he’s fighting them again.
Ezra Levant could be the Martin Luther of free speech rights in Canada.

About Lucas Cranach
Lucas Cranach was the great artist of the Reformation. He was a close friend of Martin Luther. He was a businessman, who first printed Luther's translation of the Bible; a politician, who served on the Wittenberg town council and served the city as its mayor; a chemist, who operated a pharmacy; a teacher, who trained a host of apprentice artists; a family-man, who helped arrange Luther's marriage with the two men serving as the godfathers of each other's children; and an active layman in his church, who gave his pastors important personal and material support. As a Christian who lived out his faith in his many different callings, Cranach thus embodies the Reformation doctrine of vocation, using the gifts God had given him in service to Christ and his neighbor in the church, the family, the workplace, and the culture. In the spirit of Lucas Cranach, this blog will discuss wide-ranging issues of Christianity and culture with a Lutheran twist.
