The leader of the former Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev now says that he is a Christian. According to that link, Ronald Reagan suspected that he was a secret Christian, even back then. Now the former Communist kingpen is talking openly about his faith. Notice GOD’S role in smiting down the Evil Empire.

UPDATED THOUGHTS: We can certainly question this: as the head of the communist party, he had to publicly profess atheism, and since then he has been awfully New Agey. Still, no one can say Jesus is Lord without the Holy Spirit, so I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, at least now. I’m curious, though, what Ronald Reagan was picking up on.

I believe his name is Sacramone.

I’m confused; didn’t Christ say something about denying him who denied Him? Isn’t there something odd about his veneration of St. Francis alongside Christ–isn’t the Savior supposed to be supreme?

I hope and pray he is indeed our brother; I just know as well that his views would raise some eyebrows among the membership committee at my church!

I always get mixed up on the spelling of his name! Thanks, Cranach fan. I’ll change it.

Dr. Veith,

Re: your comment, “Notice GOD’S role in smiting down the Evil Empire.” Let us hope that the same may occur
with Islam. If it does not, then I think we may be looking
at the last great scourge against the Chrisitan church.
Lord, have mercy on this Holy Saturday!
Nevertheless, we celebrate Christ’s victory tomorrow no matter what other “tomorrows” may bring.
He is risen!
