Fla. doctor investigated in badly botched abortion:
Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.
Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.
Only Renelique didn’t arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.
What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic’s owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant’s umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.
Police recovered the decomposing remains in a cardboard box a week later after getting anonymous tips.
“I don’t care what your politics are, what your morals are, this should not be happening in our community,” said Tom Pennekamp, a Miami attorney representing Williams in her lawsuit against Renelique (ren-uh-LEEK’) and the clinic owners. . . .
Even those who support abortion rights are concerned about the allegations. “It really disturbed me,” said Joanne Sterner, president of the Broward County chapter of the National Organization for Women, after reviewing the administrative complaint against Renelique.
(UPDATE: The story in the original link, above, got updated, so some of these quotations aren’t there anymore. You can find them here.)
This is beyond monstrous. But I don’t understand. The mother went to get an abortion, but now is suing because the doctor killed her baby? And upon what grounds are the pro-abortionists upset? If the doctor wasn’t late and killed the baby minutes before she came out, that would have been fine in a way that doing it outside the womb is not?

Well, abortion thrives on “out of sight; out of mind.” It’s easier to convince yourself you’re doing the right thing if you willfully ignore what you’re discarding. Seeing her newborn likely brought down the mother’s rationalizations instantaneously (and she probably made a split decision to keep her).
As for the pro-abortionists, could they have any other reaction? You can’t exactly go on TV and say there’s nothing wrong with this situation without blowing your cover. Everyone knows its wrong to murder babies. To continue to claim that there’s a difference between abortion and mudering babies, you have to act like there’s a difference.
Years ago one of my wife’s professors in college got a young woman to admit that she supported infanticide if that’s what it took to keep unlimited abortion on demand. At least she was honest albeit repulsive. (It is possible that 25 years has caused her to rethink her opinion so I will not assume she holds it today). I suspect that the pro-abort folks real concern is that this is a major public black eye and may cause some of the folks who can’t seem to logically assess abortion to do so. We can only pray that this terrible trajedy will be used by God to change the views of people throughout our nation.
As tragic and horrifying as this story is, the quote that really irked me was this reaction from the representative of NOW:
“It really disturbed me,” said Joanne Sterner, president of the Broward County chapter of the National Organization for Women … “I know that there are clinics out there like this. And I hope that we can keep (women) from going to these types of clinics.”
Translation: Let’s make sure that women can go to clinics where the staff makes sure the babies are dead BEFORE they leave the womb.
God help us. God help those helpless little ones who are victims of “choice” and who have no voice and no choice in these matters.
The reason the pro-abortionists are upset is that this whole episode exposes what the pro-life folks have always said; a fetus in the womb is alive and is a baby and not just some mass of cells.
So many of us – were not even given a chance. Weep also for the women of NOW – whose brains are also turned to mush. In Christ may they be made alive again. He is their only hope.
I mean really, why pass up a perfect opportunity to sue? It is the American way. I hope she gets a big settlement and the insurance for abortion clinics sky rockets so as to make abortions too expensive for any teenage girl to walk in nonchalantly and have an abortion. Though you would think coming up with over a grand might be a parental notification plan already.

The doc got his license revoked.
License revocation is a start, but a murder was committed. A murder charge should be forthcoming.
I’m confused…is there another article in addition to the one linked to in the original post from the Buffalo News? I clicked on the link and read the article, and it doesn’t say anything about the mother filing a lawsuit, or have the quotes that are mentioned in the post.
What am I missing?
So a president of NOW is disturbed because the baby was placed live into a bag instead of chopped to pieces in the womb. The “moral superiority” of the latter surpasses the understanding of humans with consciences.
This reminds me of when NOW and other pro-aborts were Mortified when, in a pro-life march, a young pastor tenderly carried a dead fetus which he had found in a garbage bin outside an abortuary. To the pro-aborts, it was a greater crime to gingerly carry the dead fetus than to poison it and throw it in the garbage dump.
I guess if death is hidden, it’s O.K.
Larry, thanks. The original story got updated, leading to some changes. I added another link that will make it right.
Again, the paucity of children in some areas of society has unintended consequences. I wonder if the clinic owner has cared for infants in her/his growing-up and current life.
